Olympus Marathon is an annual event taking place on Olympus Mountain, on the last weekend of June. The route retraces the ancient trail, when the pilgrims would ascend toward the city of worship named Dion at the summit of Olympus in the beginning of summer, in order to make sacrifices to the ultimate God, Zeus, and lay down their oblations. It is an event of international dimensions and, at the same time, the epitome of a series of events taking place on the mythical mountain (Olympus Ultra, Olympus Vertical, the Eagles’ Edge and Melindra Trail).
